Phoenix Performance Shines at Pocono: Finding Comfort on the Podium

by Joe Aquilante

The Phoenix performance team made a strong return to action on May 20 and 21 at Pocono, achieving impressive results.

Following a typical foggy and drizzly Pocono spring morning, the track eventually dried out in the afternoon, setting the stage for the races.

In the Big Bore race, Andrew Aquilante dominated, leading all 14 laps in his Ford Boss 302 Mustang. Behind him, Tim Rubright secured the second position, with Joe Aquilante coming in third, resulting in a complete all Phoenix-built podium.

Meanwhile, in Touring 2, Kurt Rezzetanno led the way, closely pursued by Dave Sanders in his Phoenix C5 Z06 Corvette. Al Nocerine secured the third position on the podium, making it yet another all-Phoenix podium.

The following day brought clear skies, creating a beautiful setting for the Big Bore race. Andrew Aquilante once again demonstrated his skill and took the lead. Tim and Joe engaged in a battle for the second spot in T1, with Joe ultimately managing to overtake Tim and secure the second position, completing still another all-Phoenix podium.

In T2, Kurt continued his strong performance, leading the pack, followed by Dave Sanders and Al Nocerine.

Furthermore, Felix Borodaty's notable performance in T4 stood out, as he won on both days with his Phoenix-built Toyota 86.

Overall, it was an excellent weekend for the Phoenix team.

Looking ahead, the team is gearing up for the SCCA Majors Super Tour event at Watkins Glen on June 3 and 4, with the promise of favorable weather. Phoenix will be well-represented with cars in T1, T2, and T3. Everyone is encouraged to attend and witness some exciting racing action!
